CAW Aboriginal & Workers of Colour in Solidarity

The CAW recognizes that building a strong racial justice movement is a necessary pan of building a strong trade union movement.

  1. We have specific issues. lt's important that we take time to talk with others who are affected by some of the same things we are.We need to have focused discussions to work out our priorities and debate issues.
  2.  We're usually the minority in trade union activities. That can mean that our voices either get drowned out, or our issues are left off theagenda. Besides, some of us don't feel comfortable raising our voices when we've seen other A&WofC be mocked, ridiculed, ignored or even harassed.
  3.  From time to time we need to be able to speak about personal issues and work through them in a supportive environment. We canrely on each other. We can lean on each other to rejuvenate, to strategize, to analyze, to mourn, to laugh, and quite often, organize
  4. We have a lot to learn from each other. We can find community, pride, and strength from each other. We have specific issues. lt'simportant that we take time to talk with others who are affected by some of the same things we are. We need to have focused discussions to work out our priorites and debate issues.
