About TransAlta

The TransAlta bargaining group is made up of Power Engineers, many who were originally Chrysler employees, along with related Skilled Trades needed to operate and maintain the 70 megawatt Cogeneration Plant on Temple Drive and the Chrysler Powerhouse steam, compressed air and chiller water systems. The Power Engineers are successors from the sell off of the utilities portion of Chrysler. They joined CAW Local 444 in October 1996 and signed the first Collective Agreement in March of 1997.

The TransAlta is an independent power producer based in Alberta, which supplies electricity to the Ontario grid from its cogeneration plants in Ottawa, Mississauga, Sarnia and here in Windsor.
